Nickie and Danielle explain the look that caught the judges eye and clinched them a place in the Grand Final; "We studied the catwalks and felt drawn to collections by Julien Macdonald and Karl Lagerfield. The eighties seemed to have a massive influence over the designers and we wanted to emulate the sharp silhouettes seen at Balmain. We developed this influence through to the hair with style details such as the quiff. The use of blondes with darker panels helps to define certain areas of the cut."

Excitement filled the air as Fusion Hair Consultants accepted the L'Oreal Colour Grand Finalist Trophy. There was talk about the strategy of developing defined but cleverly styled curls in various shapes and sizes placed in unsymmetrical positions. The ingenious use of a prominent forelock that had been gelled and brushed upward, better known as the quiff was integrated into their short hairstyle and developed into a classic work of art that also revealed the various shades of blonde used on the hair.
