Miracle in a Jar

Hair salon visit

Q: Several years ago, I went to a hair salon called "Beauty Lines Salon & Supplies" in Layton, Utah, for a haircut. While getting my hair cut, I was telling the stylist about all my hair type problems and if their salon had a product that could fix them. Of course, the stylist did mention that indeed I had a number of hair type problems; which she noted as being: dull, dry, fine, thin, flat, limp and lifeless with no movement, body, bounce, softness or shine with static flyaways.

She then continued to tell me about this product their salon used and guaranteed me that I would leave feeling like a million bucks and a new woman. So, I let her proceed with this treatment product that their salon called "Miracle in a Jar" However, this was a nickname for the product and not its true original product name.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to ask what the real product name was because everyone had been addressing it by its given nickname. Anyhow, she began to massage this product into my hair and scalp which had a minty cool tingling sensation. She then covered my hair with a cap and if I remember correctly; used no heat, for 15 minutes. If heat was applied, it was still for 15 minutes.

She then rinsed my hair and used a blow dryer on a low cool setting. And WALLAH - WOW! My hair had never looked so good or felt better. My hair had so much movement with amazing body and bounce, softness and shine with no static flyaways. It boosted my self-esteem as well as my self-confidence making me no longer feeling self-conscious.

Her guarantee was 100% and I indeed left the salon feeling like a million bucks and a new woman. Sadly to say, their salon closed their doors and moved out of state a few months later. So, I have been searching for this product ever since or for a product relatively close to what "Miracle in a Jar" did for me and my hair, which again is: dull, dry, fine, thin, flat, limp & lifeless with no movement, body, bounce, softness or shine with static flyaways.

A: While I know you were hoping I would say, “You must mean ‘yadda-yadda’ the most fantastic product on the market for limp, lifeless fly-away hair.” I cannot.

Frankly, there are so many salons that use so many different products and often give these products their own nicknames that you can’t really guarantee that the product was ever mass-produced. It could even have been something made “in-house” as some hair salons do.

While I’m not usually one to lend my endorsement to any specific product line, I do have to confess that I have used the Pantene line quite a bit and found most of their products to be very effective when chosen appropriately for the individual’s needs. Pantene has recently revamped their product line and has a line called “Fine Hair Solutions” which I think may be right for you.

Try the “Dry to Moisturized” shampoo and conditioner, along with the “Triple Action Volume” mousse (or the Weightless Body Builder” gel) and “Heat Protection and Shine” Spray if you plan to do any blow drying or heat styling.

You should also remember that damage to the hair, is always cumulative, and therefore, rarely sees the best results in a single use. Use the products through 6 shampoo cycles and then make a judgment.
